The movie has been in the news for quite sometime but the craze reached the zenith when the said movie was showcased at the Berlin Film Festival. The international media was astounded by this cinematic experience calling it a gem. When the special screening was held at Mumbai the response from the twitterati and celebs was no different and when the movie finally hit the theatres, it has been garnering rave reviews. After hearing such a fantastic stuff, I too cannot prevent myself from appreciating the fact that Director Zoya Akhtar who has been criticized for showing upper class dramas in her previous outings has outdone herself in this flick by showing a reality of the slum life which the audience can resonate to.
You all have already witnessed the story of the underdog making it big after facing many hurdles but what makes this movie different is the setup and tailor made roles for each and every character. It seems the casting too have been perfect as all the characters have given their best. Vijay Raaj who was wasted in Stree comes up with a wonderful performance. The friend of Ranveer who helps him in chasing his dream is a name to reckon with. This is his debut movie but never it seems like that. A memorable performance by Alia Bhatt, she has just killed it. There are 2 scenes where she gets into a fight and the same are designed brilliantly. Ranveer Singh is continuing his dream run, a career best performance till date. Watch out for the chemistry between Ranveer and Alia. The set up, cinematography, the dialogues are praiseworthy. One can see the hardwork put in by the writers in writing the characters and research. The issue of polygamy had been covered beautifully.
I can’t call it a family movie as some scenes make us uncomfortable but in a nutshell, one can see the team efforts that makes it a gem in the making. It have already invaded the theatres and as said and sung by Ranveer Apna time aayega, I would say uska time aa gaya, 4 stars from my side.
